Curating in a shoebox

These are from our first workshop Curating in a Shoebox. We got a load of kids in the space with their parents to make these immersive pieces. Take that Mike Nelson.

Storyboard Walk

Here are the photos from our second workshop Storyboard Walk. We had lots of kids drawing animal characters and taking photos of Kentish town city farm.

We then created two massive storyboards that trailed outside the building!

PArLouR ProjEcTs Opening Night: LoST ObJecT WoRlD

“The search for lost things is hindered by routine habits and that is why it is so difficult to find them.”

Gabriel García Márquez

Lost Object World pertains to a liminal * space where objects are collected and then transformed. We invite you to bring discarded everyday objects and materials which will be used by our artists as media for new original art forms.

The opening event kicks off a series of programmes which involves the Queen’s Crescent community as well as the avant-garde artistic community of London. We have a spectacular and exciting line-up for the evening featuring installation, live performances, short films, video art, artistic interventions and a funk DJ set. Please join us for what promises to be a unique artistic experience!

Guest artists include: Cat Westwood aka Gatto, Palvinder Nangla, Regina Fichtner, Liam Newnham, Joschi Herczeg, Riccardo Attanasio and artists of The Found Art Society.

7:30pm – 8:00pm: Gerald Curtis will be performing a live version of the exhibitions audio tour entitled ‘The Artists Guide to Being Lost’.

8:00pm – 9:00pm: Regina Fichtner transforms herself into a homeless queen and invites the audience to use props to create a transformative living artwork.

9:00pm- 9:15pm: Gatto will present an original Japanese Butoh solo performance.

‘Shoe. Tea. Where’s my keys.’ is inspired by objects which pass us by, stay with us, get lost and are carried on a journey of our everyday life. Her performance will be conducted on the roof of the building opposite the Parlour Space!

9:30pm- 11:00pm Dr. Um will be spinning a choice set of Funk and Breaks on the turntables.

Film Room: Featuring a selection of video and film by Elsa Cremer, Helga Fannon, and Gabi (popcorn supplied).

Event Photographer: Isabel Beier

An event at the Parlour Project Space, Kentish Town. 3:30 - 4:40. 2nd June 2010.

A set of instructions to help you ‘do nothing’. Slow down, be inactive, waste time, stop working or take a break from your normal routine. The project space will be open from 3:30 till 4:30 if you want to take time out and practice doing nothing for a while.

Lie on the floor | bounce a ball | Click a pen | count your pulse | think about somewhere else | play dead.
The above instructions are six of eighteen you can use if you want to.
Guidance vs instruction, normal vs heightened, Zen vs boredom, something vs nothing, questioning vs acceptance, fast vs slow.

Download the instructions, print them out and join me in Kentish Town.
